Genre:

HISTORICAL:  The Varis empire — vampire monarchy in the north — is seeking to discover who is spreading the propaganda against it.  Friedrich Volya, Duke of Winter Hill, wants this person or group caught before his uncle King Dominik gets to them.  HIs uncle is a violent king and rules through fear of death.  Brennalyn is a schoolteacher in the Duke’s kingdom; she is spying on the Duke in order to help a group called the Black Lily get justice for the orphaned children of the commonwealth.  Will the Duke and Brannalyn discover they are fighting for the same side, or will King Dominik make an example out of them?

Vampires that are Kings and Dukes — oh my!  The unique approach the author has spun in this vampire love tale is different with a political twist.  Brennalyn and the Duke of Winter Hill both develop into incredible characters with deep loyalties. Juliette Cross writes the tale of the propaganda against his uncle King Dominik as a key element in the plot.  The king’s character is shown as brutally violent to all, leaving one to wonder if this is really how evil one was back in this period. Friedrich and Brennalyn's love story is beautiful and steamy, moving at a great pace.   The main characters have a rich development that adds to the beauty of the story line.  There are love scenes, battles, deception, spies and punishments for traitors, to entice one to keep reading.
