Genre:
Paranormal

WESTERN:  RC Reid is a cowboy one hundred percent. He’s a rodeo star with his eyes on the prize…winning enough money to go home and marry his childhood sweetheart, Charlee Brysen. One fateful night everything changes as a bull takes the life from the young man. Or did it? Reid awakens to find himself a recruit for Hell’s Cowboys and a dhampir - half human, half vampire.

Charlee Brysen has a broken heart and a screwed up life. Her parental figure and the love of her life have both passed away, leaving her to hold things together. Unfortunately, this is a challenge she is unsure she can face alone.

A most intriguing concept with an interesting ensemble cast unfolds from page one to the finish. Ms. Zak is very skilled at character development. Unfortunately, the plot in this particular novel is incredibly confusing. Knowing exactly what direction the action is going is like trying to unfold a map while driving. Determining which character is the highlight is a test in reasoning and patience, making the point of view unnerving at times. Uncharacteristic of the author, this novel leaves the reader scratching their head. There is a story here, one that warrants attention, by author and reader. The characters alone beg to be written about.
