The Shepherd's Daughter (Dry Bayou Brides #1)

Lynn
Winchester
Genre:
Historical

Ray MacAdams has been friends with Billy Ducharme for fourteen years, ever since they moved to the ranch, and as the years have passed their friendship has become stronger. Ray wishes she was more than the shepherd's daughter and dreams of being more than friends with Billy, wishing she could lie beside him at night. Rebecca DuCastille is Billy's mail order bride: she's beautiful, refined and the opposite of Ray. Will Ray convince Billy that they are meant to be together and take their friendship to the next level? Or will Billy settle down with Rebecca?

This historical romance is a lovely story with two very strong characters who are best friends. Their relationship is strong and that is portrayed through the writing and descriptions as well as the behavior of the characters. The author takes the reader back to the moment when Ray and Billy meet, which is fun. As the book progresses, the pace is even until Rebecca arrives and then there is a rush to find out whom Billy will choose. Lynn Winchester has written a very sweet read with a love triangle that will have readers flicking the pages quickly to get to the resolution. Definitely a series to keep reading!
