Kristen McConnell and Creed Graham have a history - a bad one. Luckily they were able to avoid crossing paths, mostly thanks to Kristen who gave up Civil War reenacting - the thing that brought them together. But, thanks to her friend who wants to have a wedding during the reenactment of the Battle of Wilderness, it just so happens that Creed is the best man. She’s ready to face Creed and their mutual past, she really is. Creed is ready to let the memories go, and this is the opportunity, even if just looks like an unfortunate twist. Oh, the best laid plans…

A romance set during a Civil War reenactment is fairly uncommon, and seeing the clash of past and present made for a fascinating backdrop for Kristen and Creed’s story.  Unfortunately, a lot of the plot relies on poor communication and secrets, which when added to the drama those create don't present either Kristen or Creed in a particularly flattering light. Also, having the resolution of their issues in the very last chapter didn’t leave room for the reader to see them happy and fulfilled. However, for those who stick it out, "Unconditional Surrender" is a story about love, loss and second chances proving that love can overcome even the seemingly biggest obstacle!
