Rowena and the Dark Lord (Land's End, Book 2)

Melodie
Campbell
Genre:
Paranormal

TIME TRAVEL/HUMOR:  A while ago Rowena fell through the portal and into Land’s End – a magical Medieval place. Now she’s back to Earth, pregnant and in the company of a warrior she loves, formerly King Thane. One problem is that she used to be married to his brother. Another is that the baby doesn’t belong to either of them, but to the sorcerer, Cedric. And the biggest problem of all – she’s quickly returned to Land’s End and is struggling to take charge of her own destiny. Not so easy to do with yet more men fighting for her. Really, men are trouble, and the more of them are interested in you, the more trouble they are. Needless to say, Rowena is in one hell of a lot of trouble.

Say farewell to boring old-fashioned love triangles, everyone, Ms. Campbell is taking readers to an angst-free land of love, lust and excitement! If Laurell K. Hamilton’s Merry Gentry traveled to Medieval Europe this is the book that would result. Anyone who hasn’t read the first book in the series will have trouble grasping the relationship and history of Rowena and her men, so better read in order.

Rowena herself is a blast. She’s funny, she’s interesting and she’s dealing well with a difficult situation. The men, on the other hand, feel more like roles than fleshed out characters (i.e. the brave Viking, etc.). The novel also feels more like an episode in an ongoing story than a story in itself.

Adventure, magic and love make a tantalizing cocktail, so to all the readers picking up this novel – Cheers!
