Genre:
Paranormal

SUSPENSE/THRILLER:  Curtis Geary, Keeper computer geek, receives a Compulsion to take care of Jordan, a mongrel Betrayer excommunicated from her Brood and left to die after being drained of dark energy by his clan members. He miraculously restores her strength by unknowingly sharing his Vitality with her while they are holed up together in a house being renovated by his clan. Curtis and Jordan find themselves strongly attracted to one another as shared Compulsion proves they must work together to defeat their common enemy, Brood Master Abel. Will their newfound love be strong enough to enable them to overcome racial distrust and gain the cooperation of his clan in time to fight and win The Second Rebellion and protect the realms of both Watchers and humans?

Ms. Neely’s tale is a good story with interesting characters and an intriguing plot. Sadly, the beginning may have readers feeling as if they have come into the middle of a thriller without a guide description.  The lack of any back-story causes a little drag in the story’s pace because readers are left to guess about where the story is taking place and what the objects of conflict mean to the characters. There is no denying the chemistry between the two main characters is strong and their one love scene is blazing!! The battles between good and evil are exhilarating. The brief descriptions and interactions of the secondary characters are enticing enough to inspire a desire to know more. Readers will definitely feel the need to read the first two installments in this series, because they will find Rebecca Neely’s storytelling imaginative and compelling. And that’s a good thing.
