Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Brash Blonde (Marty Hudson #1)

Genre:
Mystery

Marty Hudson has an insatiable desire to learn but no money to make it count. Therefore, she is stuck as a barista serving coffee to those who can actually afford a college education, and sitting in on some of their classes.  When Marty learns her aunt has died and left her a Victorian home, her life looks to have taken a turn for the better - until she sees the house!  Not sure whether it is an old treasure or just a run-down monstrosity, Marty begins the clean-up... only to discover her aunt might just have been murdered!

Determined to put some of that class-crashing knowledge to good use, Marty and her best friend decide to discover exactly what happened.  With the un-witting help of hunky Dr. Watson and a curmudgeonly detective, the clues start falling into place - a very dangerous place!

For anyone in the mood for a light, humorous, mystery, this one should definitely be high on the list!  The writing is smooth, with lots of giggles interspersed in this classic whodunit. The character of Marty is a fun, every-girl who the reader will find easy to relate to.  The use of “Sherlock Holmes” as an absent character was a little over the top and some of the situations stretched even the most lax in believability but for an easy, lighthearted puzzle to pursue this story will fit the bill perfectly!
