Retired FBI Agent Chris Matheson has never forgotten the case that changed everything. Sandy Lipton and her unborn child disappeared, and the suspicion that was placed on Chris never went away. It has made things difficult for him and his three children. When he gets together with a group of law enforcement specialists, he decides to go back to the case and work on it. As he delves deeper into the case, it blasts wide open. Will Chris be able to put the case that has haunted him in the solved section?

"Ice" goes back to the good old-fashioned mystery where the reader will be eager to find out what happens in the end. The plot moves at an even pace with varied characters who each bring their own personality to the story. There is a family feel with Chris's children and it makes him seem more human. The one aspect that takes away from the book was that there was a lot of telling and not showing that affected the pace in places. Despite this, the book is well written, the descriptions of surroundings and other parts of the book really take the reader into the middle of the action. Lauren Carr has written an enjoyable read that will keep readers guessing until the end.
