Leana Fraser needs a job far away from the lecherous and vindictive hands of her former employer. Assuming another’s governess position with the handsome privateer lord, James MacArron, Leana hopes that she can win over the former pirate’s unruly daughters and obtain safety with the ‘Devil of the Highlands.’ But the longer she works for Jamie, the more danger she risks to her heart. Jamie has already lost family to the hands of his enemies and knows he cannot afford to fall for his new governess who is hiding secrets of her own, yet every time she challenges him, he finds himself more tempted than ever before. When old enemies come knocking, Jamie may have to take to the seas once more, but can he protect his daughters and his heart, or will the past destroy them all?

A pirate tale and Victorian romance combined, “The Pirate’s Temptation” is a stand-alone novel that takes the best parts of its genres and runs with them. Jamie is a former pirate stuffed into a Lord’s position. Leana is a Lady with spirit and depth. Their attraction is instant and smoldering. The supporting cast of characters is interesting and mostly believable, although the antagonist isn’t given much time to develop, and the plot itself is fairly predictable. Still, the romance is full of steam, and the mixture of pirates and Victorian manners gives this tale an element of added interest fans of historical romance won’t want to miss.
