When Highland gypsy Tasara Faas is rescued by Lucan, the Duke of Harcourt, she never suspected that her rescue would uncover an old conspiracy and reveal her identity as the long-lost heiress Alexandra Atterberry, launching her into elite society. All Alexa would like to do is reclaim her inheritance and return to the Highlands. However, Lucan makes a promise to his dying mother to marry by Christmas and with Alexa entering society he determines the gypsy girl is the only lady of interest. With old adversaries attempting to remove Alexa once again, and mishaps surrounding the mystery of her original disappearance, will the love between Alexa and Lucan be doomed, or will it be their salvation? 

A fun historical romance, “Heartbreak and Honor” is a great fluffy read - a gypsy lass discovering she’s an heiress and attracting a handsome duke, while scheming relatives and rivals attempt to break them apart and make off with the money. While far from a new story idea, the conversations are interesting and side characters surprising. Even so, most of the conflict is too easily resolved, there is little doubt as to the conclusion, and the characters lack depth or memorable qualities. Still, author Collette Cameron has penned an enjoyable read that invites romance readers into the genre and inevitably will send them looking for more in the series.
