Jackson Rafferty knows his older brother is in trouble when Sheridan informs him of his plans to end his betrothal to Miss Jenevieve Kingston. After years of picking up after their father, the Earl of Devlin, Jackson expects this will be no different — until Sheridan is murdered in cold blood. With little to go on, Jackson sets out in disguise to find the murderer, but the truth is more complicated than it seems. Jenevieve Kingston is the only person standing between her father and the machinations of her wicked stepmother. She has endured all sorts of dangers, but when her aunt sends her "Jack Hawkins", Jenevieve knows the moment she sees him that he is a threat. She isn't sure, though, whether the threat is to her secret or her heart. When Jenevieve’s secrets threaten to explode, Jackson could be her only protection — but can she trust the Devil?

An action-packed historical romance, with a smoldering hero, and irresistible and independent heroine, “The Devil’s Gift” represents the best of regency romance. Full of complex characters, steam and intrigue, the story only lacks a bit more clarity about the government conspiracy. Still, the plot is full of surprises and the main characters are well balanced by the antagonists and side cast. While “The Devil’s Gift” is a stand-alone book, the smooth flow, well-executed plot, and interesting characters will all leave the reader hoping for more books in the future!
