ROMANTIC COMEDY:  Sabrina Monroe thinks she is ready to start her new life as Mrs. Blakely. But when the big day comes, all she can think about is escape. She finds herself climbing out of the bathroom window runaway bride style. Meanwhile, Addison Bloom is also leaving a wedding, albeit not her own. Having traveled the world to find love, Addison is tired of attending wedding after wedding where she is not the bride. Both on the run and wanting to escape to a new life, the two women meet and strike a bargain thinking they will find the answers they are looking for. Yet, as their stories unfold, they will discover if there is truly a one-way ticket to a new life or if they are simply running from themselves and not just the past.

“One Way Ticket” is a laugh-out-loud romp full of growth and self-discovery.  Though labeled as having romance, the novel focuses more on the plot and characters, giving it a chick-lit feel. Despite this, there is nothing that makes the leads stand out. They are so similar that sometimes it is hard to distinguish between the two. Based on their actions and decisions, they also do not seem like well-adjusted adults. The plot as a whole requires suspension of belief on the reader’s part to be remotely believable. The whole scenario is far-fetched and everything fits too neatly into place. The characters have definite growth by the end of the novel, but it is hard to forget how they started out. Overall, the story can be humorous and the relationship between the two leads truly shines.
