Genre:
Contemporary

Colleen Sanders has given up her job, her car and her life in Seattle, Washington. Now she is heading home to the family farm in attempt to salvage what’s left. Her grandparents started Split Acres farm and she appreciates all the hard work in building it up to something great. When her father wanted to join the political ranks and moved out of town, she was next in line to take over. The farm is falling to pieces and she is having a hard time paying the bills.  That includes keeping a new employee named Alan, hired by her father, on the payroll.  Many years of feuding with the neighboring farm has been heating up and peculiar activities are happening around the ranch. Can Colleen save the farm in time and stop the sabotage before she runs out of money? Can the “handyman” her dad hired bail her out?

This is the second installment in the Emerald Springs Legacy series and does stand alone, until the end. There are quite a few loose bits that don’t get tied up and the book itself ends with a bit of a cliff hanger. On the other hand, the characters are warm and easy to become attached to. The twist and turns along the way make for some great sub-plots. The romance is a bit hasty but seems to work. The flow of the story is easy to follow and makes for a quick read. Readers will want to find the next book in the series to see how the story progresses for Colleen and Alan and the farm she has worked so hard to salvage.
