CONTEMPORARY: Since losing her husband, Jill Griffin has given up all hope in finding love. She arranges a tribute concert for her late husband, and that’s when Ben Fein walks into her life. He is a member of one of the bands performing at the concert, and they just click. Knowing that the media will twist things to tell stories, Jill wants to keep their relationship out of the media and just let it blossom. However, when Ben’s past comes back to haunt them, Jill is thrown into another media storm that makes her question whether the hassle is worth it. She also needs to decide if she can trust Ben, especially given the story that was revealed by the media. What will she do?

There is such dynamic character development in this tale! Gail Ward Olmsted is a goddess of bringing her characters to life and having readers feel all the twists and turns that they go through. Enough cannot be said for the emotional roller coaster of this novel. Jill has been through absolute hell and she just can’t seem to catch a break, even when she finds someone she can connect with after losing James. The description of what these characters think and feel really stands out, and everyone will be rooting for them to get their happy ever after. What is also good is that the novel works as a stand-alone but it may entice readers to go back and read “Guessing At Normal”, which will help readers love and appreciate what Jill has been through even more.

Gina Rogers has once again knocked it out of the park with her performance of this audiobook. The pitch differences for each character and the way she tells the story just keeps listeners on edge, and makes the plot move that much faster. This was aurally pleasing to listen to and once again, the narration is clean, well read, and dynamic.
