One of the pleasures of being a cover artist is exploring books and genres through the marketing lens, working with authors over time to pinpoint trends as they begin and when the newest, hottest thing becomes dated. And if you’ll help me step up on my soap box ('cause I’m barely 5 feet tall), I’d like to call the “cutting off heads” trend to the stand. This phenomenon originally started about eight years ago with a publishing company called Triskellion. (Anyone remember them?? If so, kudos to you for sticking around this roller-coaster industry!).
