InD'Introduces: Laura Baird!

Laura
Baird

Wife, mother, former U. S. Army sergeant, and dental hygienist, I can now add published author to the list. I wrote for many years, storing up my work, and after attending my first writer’s conference in 2016, I knew I wanted to do more than just dabble. I became committed, and my dreams came true (at the age of 50!) in August of 2017 with my debut romance, “Keyed Up,” published by Black Rose Writing. Since then, I’ve had the fortune to work with Evernight Publishing and The Wild Rose Press, publishing a total of fourteen romances.
A voracious reader myself, I strive to write stories I can be proud of and enjoyed by many; ones that are not only sexy and fun, but thoughtful as well. I’ve written a variety of romances, from sweet to erotic; with comedy, suspense, and contemporary issues.
While attending that first conference, I witnessed the work of cover model photographer, Wander Aguiar, and a storyline immediately came to mind. I used that idea for my first attempt at NaNoWriMo, completing 51K words in twenty-six days. The story went through several revisions and is now published with Evernight Publishing, with two stories out in my Cover Model Series and more planned.
A project of which I’m particularly proud and honored to be a part of is the Happy Holidays – anthology of short stories, published in November 2017. Kwarts Publishers out of South Africa put out a call for short, heart-warming, fun stories that readers could enjoy during the stressful time of the holidays. Out of hundreds of submissions, mine was among the fourteen chosen. And all proceeds go to benefit The World Literacy Foundation. This project was put together by Andrew Christie of KP and can be ordered on Amazon.
Most recently I was humbled and thrilled to have won the 2018 Evernight Publishing’s Readers’ Choice Award for best mainstream romance, for my title, “Second Time Love.”
I grew up on the East Coast and now reside on the West Coast, having lived in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Idaho, and Washington State. We’ve raised two sons who make us proud. When not writing, I’m reading, doing house projects, and enjoying time with my husband of over twenty-eight years.
