It’s December already and Christmas is nearly upon us. Are we all prepared? Is the tree up and fully decorated? Are there Christmas lights looped both inside and outside the house?  And what about those paper chains made last year by the kids, and tinsel and holly and mistletoe around the mirrors and the fireplace? And, presents? That’s the hardest of all. What on earth to buy brother Michael who     already has everything he could possibly want     – or Aunt Mable who never likes a thing she’s given – or daughter Kate who just asks for books and nothing else? We all love the traditions that make Christmas such fun, but it can be expensive and hard work too. And some people are very critical of the mad spending and present giving, saying we should simply remember the religious origins. So where did all our traditions come from. What does Christmas really mean?
