Genre:
Suspense-Thriller

After leaving her abusive and manipulative husband, Chloe is finally putting the pieces of her life back together because of her horse farm. One night, she awakes to find her stables on fire, but with the help of her horse trainer, she manages to save all but one horse. Her ex-husband is now trying to force his way back into her life at the same time she learns the fire is the work of an arsonist. With mounting fear, Chloe decides to leave Illinois for a brief while and head to a hidden and quiet patch of land in Virginia. Here she meets Jackson and allows herself to start to trust a man again. Chloe also meets Grace, a helpful ghost who was a healer in the early 1700s but was wrongly accused of witchcraft and killed. Grace, Chloe, and Jackson are forever united now they have been irreplaceable in helping each other.

This unique piece has the reader traveling between the early 1700s and the early 2000s with ease and amazement. The audience truly feels sorrow for Grace and Chloe and is able to connect with each woman for the hardships they are overcoming. Most of the characters are well-written and well-rounded with two exceptions, both seeming to be mere shadows of characters. The climax is predictable but conveyed in such a way as to make the reader hold out hope it will play out differently. The attention to historical facts and details leave one breathless especially upon learning the people from the past did exist and the memorial erected still stands.
