The Untimely Death of Brody Walsh (The Possess Saga, #2)

Genre:
Paranormal

Brody, Agatha (Aggie), and Nolan have all been friends since grade school.  When Brody’s live-in girlfriend is murdered, they are all shocked.  They are even more stunned when Nolan is arrested for the crime.  Brody has recently learned some things about Nolan that infuriate him, but even so, he knows Nolan is no murderer.  The police and the media in their town are eager to wrap up the murder investigation, and as Nolan goes to trial, it becomes increasingly clear that if Brody and Aggie don’t prove his innocence, Nolan may not survive the outcome.  During Brody’s attempt to discover what really happened, he uncovers an even bigger mystery – one that goes back farther than his dead girlfriend and will eventually lead to “The Untimely Death of Brody Walsh.”

This is a short and fast read.  The situations are believable as the mystery clips along, and the author succeeds in making the reader believe right alongside Brody and Aggie that Nolan is innocent.  Although well-told, the plot is not terribly original.  There are also a lot of unanswered questions by the end.  This is the middle story in a trilogy, so it can be assumed that loose ends will be wrapped up in the final volume.  One thing is certain - by the end of this installment, readers will definitely want to read the next book to find out who is the killer and what the rest of the mystery is that Brody died trying to reveal.
