The Sylph’s Tale (The Immortals Book One)

Genre:
Paranormal

FANTASY:  “The Sylph’s Tale” by Marta C. Weeks is perhaps the most unusual plot ever written. An angel, the most loved and beautiful angel of all time, watches humans on earth and, at one point, has a slight longing to become one. Therefore, an angry, mean, and quite fearsome ‘God’ banishes the angel to earth with a curse on his (or her) soul. The angel, now human/angel, discovers a tribe of Indians whose female virgins are given to the three leaders to deflower before they’re allowed to find a mate to marry. As one virgin escapes, the angel protects her, and they fall in love. At different points in the story, the angel seems to represent Jesus or the Nephilim, half angel, half human, who once walked the earth and were worshipped. As time goes on, the angel impregnates all the virgins of the tribe and becomes a beloved and idolized leader.

Wow! Kudos to Marta C. Weeks for an outstanding and creative imagination! “The Sylph’s Tale” will definitely surprise and perhaps even bewilder the reader with its sheer peculiarity. However, this story is challenging to read, at best. Poor grammar, punctuation, and basic editing problems are distracting, and it sometimes takes a while to figure out exactly what is happening. It seems most of the banter between the characters takes place telepathically, lending a slightly boring tone to the story. Still, the story has merit and is worth a shot, especially if this genre is a favorite. Hard to follow it may be, but credit is due to Ms. Weeks for the unusually fascinating plot.
