Shifter’s Journey

MYSTERY:  When reporter Sierra Hall travelled to Colorado she never expected to be transported all the way to 1895!  To survive in this era, Sierra becomes a Harvey Girl but soon discovers girls are mysteriously disappearing. In order to correct history and potentially return to her own timea, Sierra must solve the disappearances in order. When Cheyenne Spirit Walker, Stone Red Tree, saves Sierra, he puts not only himself but also his entire tribe in danger. He may be willing to sacrifice his life to protect her, but if she discovers the tribe’s greatest secret, she dooms them all.  When Bart Higgins saves a Harvey Girl, he feels like she is the missing piece in his life. His plans, however, could prevent her from finally returning home!

The third installment in Miss Hawks’ Spirit Walker Thriller Series, “Shifter’s Journey” can be enjoyed as a standalone. It should first be noted that this is a long novel, coming in at approximately 542 pages. While a powerful and captivating story, it may be too much of a commitment for some, causing them to lose focus. Although the author’s easy style allows the words and narrative to flow smoothly, that doesn’t stop the reader from feeling the length of the novel or becoming confused during some scenes. Lead by a strong and intelligent female, the story is filled with action, paranormal, and suspense with a hint of romance. It may sound like the author is attempting to do too much with the story, but Ms. Hawks makes it work, despite a cringe-worthy love scene. “Shifter’s Journey” is well-researched literary investment both of thought and of time.
