Colin Fisher is one of the top wizards in the world, but each time he stops a crime spree by a demon or another wizard, he tests the limits of his magic. The more he learns, the more he wants to discover what happened to his missing fiancée. Entering a self-induced coma to travel through time and uncover the truth puts him in a dangerous position, but he is determined to try. Unfortunately, the Faceless are equally determined to use this chance to kill him. It is up to Veruca Wakefield, his demon-blooded assassin girlfriend, and FBI agent Andrea Deveraux (who bears an uncanny resemblance to his fiancée) to keep Colin alive. As waves of Faceless assassins threaten them all, can Colin uncover the truth and wake in time, or will Veruca and Andrea fall to the powers of the Faceless leader?

An action-packed urban fantasy, “Faceless” is the third book in the “Modern Knights” series. Using alternating points of view, this book blends modern society with a magical underworld, a love triangle, and enough demons, angels, fae and immortal beings to fill a mythological saga. As the third book, much of the story has already been set up in the previous books, leaving this one to move some of Colin’s character development and set the stage for the fourth book. However, the story feels like a mishmash of action and plot development without a decisive conclusion. Also, the romance reads more plot driven than emotional. Still, the characters are interesting, the world complex, and the writing smooth and well written. Overall, this is a great book for urban fantasy fans!
