Demon’s Web (Demon Saga, #3)

Hawks
Genre:
Paranormal

After an extremely rocky start filled with anger, distrust, and fighting, Mel, demon judge, executioner and keeper of the demon Destruction, and Clarissa, powerful werewolf and guardian to the Gem of Avarice, have made a happy love-filled life together. That is, until the day their 16-year-old daughter Trinity is kidnapped. Their adult son Logan feels responsible because of a secret he’s been keeping for ten years, but he’s not solely at fault. Greedy power-hungry immortals are at work, trying to shift the balance of power in all the realms and once again, Mel, Clarissa, and now their children are caught in the middle of it all.

A paranormal love story heavily flavored with mythology makes for a tasty storyline. Unfortunately the execution is unpalatable. While the plot and world are creative and induce excitement and anticipation, the writing is poker stiff and the dialogue is odd, shifting between stilted formality and modern slang. There are massive amounts of info dumping masked as internal character reflections, presumably so the reader won’t wander lost in this third book in the series. In addition, there are content errors that pull one completely out of the story. The gem of a story is here. With an additional round of intense editing this could be a tale the gods themselves would notice and approve.
