TIME TRAVEL:  Amara Mattersley has only ever wanted to be free from the nineteenth-century society where she is judged and ridiculed. Her sister-in-law, Eliza, assures her that she can be whatever she wants to be in the twenty-first-century. Amara just has to take the leap of faith. Computer science professor Matthew Goodson has a one track mind - tenure. He doesn’t have time for love or friendship or anything else until Amara Mattersley drops out of nowhere and into his arms. Now, he can’t get her out of his head. Matthew hates the need he feels to be with her but he also can’t deny the pull she has on him. Will Matthew and Amara be able to find common ground or will the past and the present prevent them from overcoming obstacles that stands in the way of a love that crosses time and space?

Margaret Locke has created a story that is intriguing and thought provoking. “A Scandalous Matter” can be read as a stand-alone book but readers may find it extremely beneficial to read the previous two books in the series before tackling the third. There seems to be missing pieces to the story that readers may assume will be found in the previous books. Ms. Locke’s characters are bright, personable, and easily relatable. Her story is unique from other time-travel stories and it gives readers reasons to keep coming back for more. “A Scandalous Matter” is either the perfect ending to a trilogy or an excellent story for readers to hope for the next installment.
