PARANORMAL:  During a visit to her father’s grave, Elise Shannon meets a strange man in the small cemetery.  Thinking he is likewise bereaved, she befriends him and brings him back to town.  However, it is soon clear that the man is not grieving for a deceased parent, but is looking for the mother he hasn’t seen since his father, Mer-King of Atlantis, snatched him and took him beneath the waves.  Half-merman and half human, Caspian is desperate to find his mother before he takes his place as heir and ruler of Atlantis.  He did not expect to find the beautiful Elise and fall in love with her on his quest.  Will he be able to find his mother? Will he find a way to build a life with Elise on land?

Elise is a very sad and lonely soul.  Orphaned and just scraping by as a waitress, Caspian comes into her life just when she most needs someone, despite what she might think. Caspian is an odd duck. Unfamiliar with human life, his speech and mannerisms are odd and he seems more childlike and vulnerable than one would normally see in a romance hero and the relationship between the two seems based more on proximity and loneliness than actual connection.  Inconsistencies in merman anatomy are confusing as sometime Caspian has feet underwater and sometimes he has a fin.  In a modern twist, it's nice to read a novel where the hero is the one in need of the rescue by the heroine.
