Genre:
Mystery

After a bullet ended his Army career and left him broken both physically and emotionally, Asher Creed returns to Texas and takes a job as an executioner for the state prison.  His personal tragedy, coupled with the disappearance of his younger sister Claire has left behind an emptiness that nothing can fill. He's approached by journalist Genevieve Moreau with the prospect of doing a piece on Claire. While initially hesitant, he realizes that this may be an opportunity to breathe new life into the long-cold case. But when an unscrupulous editor's actions threaten to undermine the renewed investigation, Asher must decide if he's willing to let it affect his evolving relationship with Genevieve.

“The Executioner” is the stunning debut of the Family Creed series. Set in southeast Texas and written from the male protagonist's point of view, Ms. Allen pens a haunting tale of shattered lives, grief and the healing power of love. Relatable for everyone who has ever experienced loss, one can't help but be drawn in by the entire Creed clan. While the reader will adore the whole family, the real draw is in Asher and Genevieve.  The sparks between the two crackle with intense heat. Readers will hang onto every word of this sexy, heartfelt love story with an overarching mystery. While the book ends on a cliffhanger, the author does an excellent job setting the stage for the continuing saga of the Creed family. Don't hesitate to put this page-turner at the top of your must read list!
