French Roast (Dare Valley #2)

Ava
Miles
Genre:
Contemporary

Jill Hale owns a popular coffee shop and cafe in her hometown of Dare Valley, Colorado, and has been in love with her childhood best friend Brian McConnell as long as she can remember.  When Brian comes home without explanation from NYC and his career as a chef, Jill decides it's time to bury the hatchet - and she has just the plan to do it.

As for Brian, he's back home in Dare Valley for a fresh start.  He'd be lying if he said rekindling things with Jill wasn't part of his plan, but between his ex hitting town to win him back and Mac, the investor who just may be going to change Dare Valley forever, he knows he has his work cut out for him.  Will Brian and Jill get their hearts broken again, or will they find their way back to repairing their relationship?

Ms. Miles does a wonderful job making “French Roast”  a standalone story in her Dare Valley series!  The quaint town and character development is thoughtful and pleasant. The plot is very easy to follow and the flow is quickly paced. The romantic tug-of-war between two longtime friends and high school lovers is a bit overdone; however the portrayal of a relationship searching for trust and commitment is well done, indeed. The main characters have a lot to deal with and Miles ties it up in a neat package but also leaves readers wanting more.  Readers will be sure to pick up the next book in the series, confident it won’t disappoint!
