HISTORICAL:  Lady Nerissa De Montfortes, youngest coddled sibling of the Duke of Blackheath, accompanies her brother Lord Andrew to a demonstration of his latest invention, an explosive that will give the Royal Navy advantage over the rebellious Americans. Before the night is through, Lady Nerissa is abducted by an Irish rogue, a Captain in the Continental Navy. Captain Ruaidri O'Devir has been commissioned by John Adams to bring the explosive formula back to the Americans. He takes the inventor's sister instead and so begins a tale of two people who should be all wrong for one another, for reasons of class, country and religion, yet find love instead. With the Royal Navy in pursuit, along with the force of a Duke who lets no one hurt his family, Lady Nerissa is forced to choose between family and the man she loves.

Like the waves of the ocean, "The Wayward One" will take listeners on a ride of high emotion from start to finish. Although it is book five in the De Montfortes Brothers' series, it stands on its own. Danielle Harmon weaves the history of the period through the story, at the same time creating characters that grab the listener's heart.

Hats off to narrator Wayne Farrell for a performance that resonates long after the story ends. Captain O'Devir slides under the listener's skin, while Farrell's portrayal of Blackheath emotes with the power of a brother determined to free his sister from her blackguard captor. Farrell's impeccable delivery creates a masterful performance that keeps the listener entertained and on edge for a superb storytelling experience.
