Paper or Plastic? Reading in a Digital World

You look outside and the night is so beautiful. There is a slight breeze, yet it's still warm enough to be perfect. It's been a long day and you are looking forward to your double espresso with some caramel and milk. There sits your favorite chair and the light above it that has always been just right, not blindingly bright nor too dim so you can't see. You toss your favorite old, thick blanket over your chair to add some cushion for your weekly ritual of cuddling up for a long while and enjoying a new book.
You were lucky enough to see your mom read beside the fire, or on perfect nights like this, and remember the calmness which always encompassed her. She seemed at peace, being taken away by the words she read and the adventures she took in her mind's eye.
Now it is your turn. You sit down with your favorite version of relax-me brain juice and a couple cookies you snuck from the jar before the kids realized they were there and gobbled them up like gremlins. Besides, they're your favorites, chocolate chip, and if you want to cheat on your diet, so be it.
So, just like your mother did in the old days, you let out a cleansing breath, sit back, and adjust yourself in the chair, let out a deep sigh and open your book.
Or should I say, turn on your eReader?
