The $5.00 Wedding Dress

When my sister was getting married, we found her the perfect dress. It was exquisite, elegant, and unsurprisingly, expensive. Being of the digital age, we found the same dress for about 10% of the cost and felt pretty darned proud of ourselves for outthinking the greedy wedding dress vendor. We all know where this story ends, right?Our first clue came when the website mysteriously went offline. Have no fear; the dress was delivered. And we were stunned—STUNNED—that what came out of the box looked nothing like the photo on the now-defunct online store. So what’s the prob, Bob? The issue here isn’t that my sister and I were idiots—and yes, we really were—the issue here is that the merchant used an image of something that represented years of work/training/reputation/sweat to make a quick couple of bucks. So, not only did the original person who created the dress not get compensation, but to add further insult to injury, money was made “on his back”.
